Produkty Pitania Company implemented a set of activities to improve the environment along the basin of the Lesnaya River in Kaliningrad

 Kaliningrad’s Mayor recently announced a new project in the works, aimed at purifying the Lesnaya River, as well as its adjacent channel.  Under the new procedures, Produkty Pitania will select a contractor and begin treating that section of the river between the Center and the OAO Elektrosvarka Plant,

The Lesnaya River currently serves as a waste dump for 68 facilities located in the Moskovsky district, which has led to serious environmental problems. The last cleanup effort took place 25 years ago.  Only a handful of organizations responded to the current bid.  Unlike large operations such as Produkty Pitania and Maksik – which have their own treatment facilities - most local companies cannot afford this technology.

Although Produkty Pitania has expanded its treatment capacity from 100 to 400 cubic meters, the company is not fully satisfied with the quality of its treatment process.  So it will upgrade existing machinery with ZeeWeed membrane water treatment modules, which have been approved by the Kaliningrad Mayor’s Office, as well as the Regional Office of Rospotrebnadzor.   In doing so, the company will contract with Hubert Technologies, Europe’s leading treatment technology experts.  Hubert - which has an excellent track record in both Canada and Eastern Europe - will customize its equipment with submersible membrane modules to ensure the highest water quality.  As such, Produkty Pitania will be able to treat smaller areas with greater care - an extremely important factor. 

Construction costs are expected to come in at around $2 million.
