Team building for in-house School of Masters
— 2008-07-27 —

On July 27 Kaliningrad-based plant of Produkty Pitania Company held an unusual final class of the School of Masters. That Sunday masters met at the gate of the plant and went on to the shore of the Baltic Sea, where HR specialists prepared a number of surprises for the alumni.

First of all, event participants formed two teams among themselves. The Vehement team elected Yuri Sviridov, Production Manager of shop No. 1, as their captain. Konstantin Ivanov, Senior Master of Raw Materials Processing Shop was elected captain of the second team, the Hawks. The first task for the teams was to set up a tourist camp, invent a team name and motto, and prepare a welcome speech to their counterparts.

After introductions by the teams Chief Referee announced the competitions opening. Competitors put on real tourist safety harness and went on the route. It should be mentioned that after the exploratory tour of the route some of the ladies present doubted their ability to complete the task. But failing their team was the bigger threat to them and there was no way back. In addition, their reliable teammates were always there to help! Parallel crossing of a chasm along a rope, crossing the seemingly puzzling rope web and the virtual swamp on sleighs and jumping over a deep pit on a swing rope – masters managed to accomplish all of the tasks!

The most extreme part of the competition was a climb from a steep 20 meters high precipice. Everyone succeeded at this point as well with no casualties! The final test was running on all fours along a ten meters long bag corridor.

Everyone was eager to compete and friendly to each other, ready to help and inspire their teammates! The desire to win, try to do their best and the team spirit were the drivers behind everyone’s performance. The Vehement had been leading the race with the Hawks breathing in their necks and the latter have ripped leadership out of the Vehement team’s hands at the very final point of the competition. But generally there were no losers on the route that day! Everyone had had a portion of adrenaline, demonstrated their skill, strength, courage and team spirit. After the competitions the masters enjoyed the sea, the beach, barbecues, a friendly meal and informal visiting.

Such was the final class of the School of Masters. Competition participants have the warmest memories of the event! The winners of the Best Production Team, production teams No. 12 and No. 9, will participate in a similar event in the nearest future.
