All-purpose foods or how Kaliningrad can feed everyone in Russia
— 2005-02-24 —

The past week was marked by the “invasion” of the 12th International Fair PRODEXPO’2005 in Moscow by the front-line Kaliningrad food producers. At the invitation of one of the exhibitors (the Produkty Pitania Company), a group of Kaliningrad journalists also traveled to Moscow.

The Expocentr’s large area of 105 thousand sq. m accommodated exhibits of almost two thousand producers from Russia, France, Argentine, German, Singapore, Hungary, Thailand, Latvia, Brazil and many other countries. Kaliningrad made itself known at the Fair with such names as TD Danor, Kaliningrad Fish Canning Company, SPI RVVK, Kaliningradskiy Delikates, Mamonovo Fish-Works, Alliance 1892 Winery&Cognac House, in addition to Produkty Pitania.

Produkty Pitania (which, as it turned out, is well known not only to Kaliningradians but also to the city folks from St. Petersburg to Vladivostok as well as to our CIS neighbors) had arranged a few surprises for the fair. A few years ago, this new-born company set a goal to satisfy the requirements of Kaliningradians for a well-balanced diet. For this purpose the Company has developed a series of frozen ready-to-cook chicken-based meals. It is no secret that chicken is one of the least expensive and most wholesome sources of animal protein. This was why such brands as Zolotoy Petushok and Domashnaya Skazka were developed. The Company started by producing only ready-to-cook natural foods (chicken tenderloin in bread crumbs).  It later became the first Russian frozen food producer to commence commercial production of convenience foods which do not require anything but preheating to be consumed.

Henceforth the Zolotoy Petushok helps whole families enjoy delicious but inexpensive meals.  In just a few minutes, one can lay the table for a distinguished and festive meal, as well as, plainly speaking, feed one’s unexpected guests. The Company’s new developments will make it possible. Think about it. Let’s start with hot appetizers: cheese sticks filled with cheese or paprika may be served with wine or beer. Then let’s proceed with the main meat course: it will now consist of not only our legendary chicken in bread crumbs but also of zrazy with mushroom, vegetable or potato fillings as well as of chicken Kievs. The meat course must always be dressed with vegetables or potatoes, such as potato fingers, ham-filled potato croquettes, or vegetable fingers which hide broccoli, peas, carrots and corn under bread crumbs (by the way, vegetables fingers produced a really unforgettable impression on those who tasted them by their savor and firmness which cannot be found very often in defrosted vegetables). Since any meal must be crowned with a sweet tooth plate, the Zolotoy Petushok offers mushroom, meat, or vegetable pies as quality dessert dishes.  The Company is proud of the formulations of these pies which were invented specifically for Russian consumers.

This year the Company will put its new additional shop in to operation.  The shop is expected to increase the Company’s production capacity to approximately 600 tons a day. The Company’s huge and diversified production capacity is very likely to turn the Zolotoy Petushok into a nationwide brand. To cut a long story short, this all means that the Zolotoy Petushok will be able to feed each and every Russian regardless of their income and tastes.
