Produkty Pitania freeze food for future
— 2005-03-29 —

In the last four or five years the Russian frozen foods market nearly doubled. Produkty Pitania President Stefano Vlahovich estimates that 2004 frozen convenience foods market in Russia was $1.7-1.8 billion, which exceeds 2003 data by 15-17%. The company is planning to build the fourth production shop in Kaliningrad and further boost production volume.

Managers of competitors of the company, Ravioli, Talosto, and Morozko recognize the competitive advantages of the plant’s location and say that it will be repaid soon. However they doubt that boosting production will be as easy as Produkty Pitania managers think. The predicted slow down of market growth and participation of regional market players may reduce efficiency of increased production as the market may not be able to absorb so much product as the predicted 600 tons a day.

Olga Danilova from Morozko Company stated that nonetheless Zolotoy Petushok brand is very well known and the company is in a position to take a share of economy segment from its competitors.
