Produkty Pitania invests $2 million to renovate its treatment facilities

The Produkty Pitania Company, a Russian frozen convenience foods manufacturer, is investing $2 million toward renovating its treatment facilities.  The company has contracted with Dutch Hubert Technologies, a treatment equipment manufacturer, to help with the renovation, which began in October 2005.  The work is scheduled for completion by August 2006. 

Produkty Pitania was founded in 1994 to import chickens from the US and Europe. In 1998 it set up its own production facilities in Russia.  EBRD is one the company’s major shareholders with 27.5% of its stock.  Currently, Produkty Pitania operates three plants in Kaliningrad, totaling 7,000 square meters and capable of producing 340 tons of product per day.  In 2005, the company will invest another $35 million to open a new high-tech plant, with a 600-ton per day capacity. 

During the first half of this year, Produkty Pitania reported a 41% year on year growth, delivering 44,500 thousand tons of product.
