Produkty Pitania Continues to Excel

March 9.  During a recent visit to Kaliningrad, Russian Audits Chamber Chairman Sergey Stepashin visited Produkty Pitania, the region’s largest production plant.

“This plant is growing rapidly,” Stepashin said.  “Its products are of the highest quality.  In fact, for those who think that the company simply cuts chickens into pieces, adds a little seasoning, and packs them up for distribution, that is definitely not the case.”

Stepashin added that Produkty Pitania wins high praise for complying with all of the legal standards that serve as guidelines for the region’s free economic zone designation.  “Although there were at one time issues related to customs preferences, they have now been resolved at the legislative level.”

The Chairman also focused his attention on raw materials for production, saying, “Unfortunately, the cost of producing Russian chicken meat is higher than the cost of importing chickens. But that problem rests with Russian policy, not with Produkty Pitania, which must import its meat at a lower cost to keep up with market demand for cost-effective products.”

This problem may be resolved soon, however, according to company president Stefano Vlahovic, who has held numerous discussions with Kaliningrad’s Governor Georgy Boos.

“We’ve been talking about “opportunities for Produkty Pitania to launch its own chicken breeding operation with the same enthusiasm and technical know-how we’ve exhibited in other areas of innovation. I believe that down the road we will succeed in producing chickens that outperform the animals we currently import,” Vlahovic said.
