Thanks to an agreement with the Vest Company, Produkty Pitania has fully automated its Kaliningrad production plant, becoming the first Russian manufacturer to install the state-of-the-art MES Factelligence system, by US-based CIMNET.

One of Europe’s largest convenience foods companies, Produkty Pitania chose this system for its tremendous compatibility, excellent reputation, and powerful support program.  Basically, it promotes cost containment by allowing management to more closely control every stage of the production process.

According to Produkty Pitania’s President, Stefano Vlahovic, “Factelligence provides up-to-the-minute data with which to track the efficient use of both resources and raw materials, while also measuring product quality and analyzing employee performance.  And that makes it possible for us to lower our production prices without reducing the quality of our products.”

In meeting Produkty Pitania’s needs, Vest designed a multipurpose operator workplace that “communicates” directly with the Factelligence system, using such devices as bar-code scanners, electronic floor scales, and label printers.   With 30 of these workplaces now in place throughout the plant, shop supervisors can manage the production cycle in real-time mode.   What’s more, Factelligence interfaces with the company’s storage facilities, thereby tracking input, transit, and output of raw materials, semi-finished, and finished products.

One particularly important phase of the project involved integrating Factelligence with Produkty Pitania’s SAP and human resources management systems.  As a result, the company can now calculate salaries with even greater precision, based upon actual production output and labor contribution.
