New projects for the upcoming year

Produkty Pitania recently announced its strategic plan for the upcoming year, with an in-depth look at both market trends and product development.

While company executives expect that the overall Russian market for convenience foods will continue to grow at a steady rate, they concur that the frozen foods sector will decline slightly.  At the same time, competition among producers will rise as multiple players vie for market leadership.

Company Vice President Damir Imamovic predicted that in order to improve their competitive advantage these manufacturers will not only need to expand their range but also their variety of innovative products, in an effort to trigger additional investments in production and distribution.

“We see a higher demand for gourmet entrees, as the more traditional products like pelmenis and minced meat selections stagnate due to market saturation,” Imamovic said.

Produkty Pitania also forecast stricter state regulations and production standards as new players, including major international manufacturers, enter the Russian market next year. In addition, Imamovic cautioned incoming companies to prepare for evolving market conditions as Russia continues to become more deeply enmeshed with the global economy.

As for the company’s 2007 outlook, Imamovic said “We will invest heavily in improvements to increase our production base and expand our distribution system.  What’s more, we will continue to move forward with the construction on our newest plant in Gusev, which we initiated with an investment agreement in February 2006.”

He went on to talk about changes in Produkty Pitania’s Kaliningrad plant, with plans to launch a new line of dough-based products, while vigorously promoting its Zolotoy Petushok brand on a national level.
