March 20, 2007 – Produkty Pitania Company, Russia’s leading manufacturer of frozen convenience foods packaged under the Zolotoy Petushok and Domashnaya Skazka brands, continues to expand its product portfolio.

The company recently unveiled its latest offering - Fried Chicken Legs and Fried Chicken Rounds - wholesome, ready-to-eat entrees that are made without the traditional breading. These new products come on the heels of a lengthy consumer testing phase, and not long after Produkty Pitania introduced its Zolotoy Petushok Grilled Wings.  And the word is definitely “thumbs up,” with Russian consumers expected to eagerly add them to the weekly grocery list.

Produkty Pitania is rapidly earning an international reputation for both its innovation and its excellence, particularly when it comes to taste, convenience, and product safety. In fact, it was among the first manufacturers to pioneer frozen foods made from all-natural chicken meat – a product category that now rates a special place among the company’s product portfolio.

The newest line of fried, ready-to-eat entrees is not only easy to prepare, but also deliciously like “homemade.”  According to Tea Grguric, Vice-President for Marketing, “Our high-tech production technologies allow us to maintain the wonderful taste of fried chicken without the extra calories from breading.  All you do is heat and serve them with vegetables and bread for a meal that even the busiest consumer will find easy and nutritious.”

In preparing for its new line, Produkty Pitania invested $2 million to hire product development consultants; provide advanced training for its employees, and update its production facilities with state-of-the-art equipment from the well-known European manufacturer CFS.  This equipment paves the way for producing up to 1,500 tons per month.

For added convenience, the new entrees are available in both 750 g and 920 g packages, and may be purchased now for around 53 rubles at major retail networks in Moscow and St. Petersburg.  In April, Produkty Pitania will release them in stores throughout its vast distribution network, particularly in Russia’s central and northwestern regions.

“We expect Fried Chicken Legs and Rounds to account for between 15 and 20% of our Zolotoy Petushok product sales, which is why we plan to continue expanding this category of convenience food products,” said Grguric.  “They are definitely made with 21st Century consumers in mind – men and women who lead very active lifestyles; but are also extremely discriminating in their food choices.”
