Another phase of modernization
Produkty Pitania has operated in our region for more than 10 years. It is worth mentioning that first treatment facilities were launched back in 1998. In 2008 another phase of treatment facilities upgrade was completed and new equipment operates in a testing mode.
- Our plant sits on Lesnaya River in Kaliningrad. After treatment waste water is dumped in this river so our main aim is to purify this water to the maximum extent, says Tatiana Luneva. – Investments in the environment are in accordance with every modern production development strategy.

At European level
Equipment from Huber Technology was selected following exchange of experience with a similar plant in Lithuania that operates similar equipment.
- Main selection criteria included efficiency, reliability and simple operation, say Mikhail Zhuravlev. – The equipment is unique for the region and it is similar to equipment used in Denmark and Lithuania.
At the initial stage waste water is channeled through a system of grease capture circuits where grease, oil products and a variety of suspended solids are captured from the water.
This is followed by mechanical treatment. Dump water is filtered through large and small mesh screens. Particles sized 1+ mm remain on screens while water if further channeled to sewage regulator to be homogenized by mixing.
The resulting substance is then cleaned with a variety of physical and chemical methods. Waste water is mixed with chemical solvents to capture fine contaminants and precipitate them for further removal from waste water.
Water exiting this phase is already clean but there is an additional stage of bio cleaning

Round-the-lock monitoring
Even though all treatment facilities are automated we have 10 experienced specialists to monitor and adjust equipment parameters around the clock. Best labs of the region take waste water samples on a monthly basis to further ensure that our equipment meets efficiency standards. Results of sample assay are regularly submitted to Kaliningrad Rospotrebnadzor authority.

Capacity expansion
- The existing treatment facilities were capable of processing 400 cubic meters of water a day, - Tatiana Luneva says. – This meets our existing water output. However the expansion plans dictate upgrade and expansion of our treatment facilities.

Investments in environmental protection
The cost of purchase in and installation of new water treatment equipment is 1/5 billion euro.
- We do our best to protect the environment and use advanced technologies for the purpose, - Tatiana Luneva says. – We will not stop here and will continue to modernize production and focus on environmental protection.
